It's my personal opinion that without The Birthday Party,the 'post 80's' punk revival and Grunge most probably wouldn't have happened....they knocked down that many taboos and FALSE idols... Many of today's band's owe such a debt to the innovative and NEVER predictable Birthday Party. Like all TRULY GREAT band's The Birthday Party was NEVER gonna be for the 'long haul' ,nope, it was 'Comet like',wild,harem scare 'em 'seat of your pants' stuff.....Heavenly In it's brilliance. Yes,and wasn't it so much better for them to "BURN OUT!! than to FADE AWAY!!" I don't think that anything can quite prepare you for Nick Cave railing against GOD and all that is holy singing Dead Joe from inside the front row!!!....oh Disciple's......LONG LIVE!!the LONG DEAD!!!!!!!......
