Disciples journeyed far and wide from all four corners of the Earth following yonder star,the star beamed down upon The Apollo in Hammersmith.

June 7th.The Year  2003.

The atmosphere in The Apollo was ELECTRIC...as if charged by thousands of humid expectations.The house lights dimmed and then suddenly The Bad Seeds were there,followed closely by The Dark One himself.The Shaman from Ukelore's Tabanacle...Nick Cave.The evening began beautifully with Nick at the Baby Grand,the piano intros Wonderful Life.This song has become de rigeour as the show opener and Nick doesn't disappoint us.Wonderful Life is one of  IMO "Only Three" good songs on the new album Nocturama,the Apollo crowd really warmed to it.

Next is Red Right Hand delivered with lots of "unnerstated" menace,Nick is on his feet prowling the stage apron.Yep,The Preacher Bwoy  is back in town all right!

Wild Eyed Nick had The Apollo crowd eating out of his Godly hand.First and ONLY problem of the night was the " All Seater " venue....Doh!

It was as if 5,000 Disciples all communicated by telepathy as I felt the aura all around me say " Why don't we ALL JUST RUSH THE STAGE ".The feeling became unbearable after a particulaly manic version of  'West Country Girl' had me sat there slack jawed and mute as Euchrid Euchrow himself.WOW!! is all mah mind could say....WOW!! THIS IS INTENSE.Nick slowed the pace a notch with a truly beautiful version of HALLELUJAH...yes siree Ukelores Preacherman is " In the zone ".Nick moved almost seamlessly into 'Sad Waters' (a special song to me) the older Disciple's there did REALLY appreciate this song too.What's this ah hear?...why it's the intro to 'Do You Love Me Pt.2' Nick really kicks into this song,the Preacher is prowling again,that slender dark suited leg is kickin' out again...Yay The Lord really DID roll away the stone.A slightly surreal event takes place next,it's time to drag Chris "The Saints" Bailey from the mini-bar (tee hee)a slighty unsteady CB appears from the wings.Nick in a rather brotherly way puts a steadying arm around Chris and guides him through their duet 'Bring It On'.Note To Self:"I Wonder what will happen on days 2 and 3?" Now for a raunchier rendition of 'Henry Lee',I like this arrangement...the crowd around me agree too.Nick dedicates 'Still In Love' to Brother Blixa after telling a keen young man "Blixa's Gone" I got quite tearful hearing Blixa's name mentioned... (life ain't fair brothers)

Right,the Apollo crowd have had enough being told to "Stay In Your Seats" and like a giant Tsunami one thousand Disciples rush the stage...OH JOY!!!!!The Security are overwhelmed by a need too great to conquer...brother's/sisters this is DISCIPLEHOOD!!! Oh Yes!! Nick chides the Disciples with "This is a sitting down song"...the lilting strains of 'Watching Alice' begin,this is ALMOST too beautiful as Nick so rarely strays this far back,ah tell you I am TRULY MADLY DEEPLY "In HEAVEN !"

Everything seems to be in supa slow motion as Preacher Cave of Ukelore breaks into a bluesy version of 'The Mercy Seat'.Those Disciples who saw or recorded Maggio May 1st 03 Italian Union Holiday Festival will have heard this version before,still utterly stunning.

"Oh Mah Lord what am ah hearing now? It sounds like ....blimy it IS 'Christina The Astonishing'"...This man REALLY IS GOD... 'cos he just read mah mind.Christ,ah just prayed so hard and yes he's playing 'Wild World',ah haven't heard this live in (too many years too many)a long time..."Goodnite...Thankyou..The place ERUPTS! "Hold me up baby for I may fall"....It's now Five raucous minutes later and back they troop. The Maestro seated at The Baby Grand,mah heart is burstin' Mah Saviour's playing 'Into My Arms'Next all mah dreams are made flesh 'The Singer' a deeply personal Mission statement to mah moist pilgrim eyes...

Just when you think you dun died an' went to heaven already 'The Singer' is followed by a really Ballistic Bad Seed version of TUPELO.

This song is my "Reason For Livin'" My brain is static and scrambled ah surely cannot continue as ah melt outta this Holy Mass performed at Cathedral Apollo.

Ah am  Truly Madly and Deeply "Drunk on The Lord's Flesh and Blud"....
